What is the SCWDA?

The SCWDA is an organization created to help preserve the memory of past, present, and future Military Working Dogs through public education and community relations. 

Are you a Tax Exempt organization?

Yes.  We are currently 501(c)(3) tax exempt under the Vietnam Veterans of Florida State Coalition.

What will the SCWDA do with the funds raised?

We are currently supporting our deployed Dog Handlers through a care package operation called "Operation Sandy Paws"  We have shipped over 2000 lbs of morale items to date.  Thanks for everyone's help!  The SCWDA will also help organizations like the VDHA(Vietnam Dog Handler's Association) and Vietnam Veterans of Florida through donations, letter writing campaigns, and volunteer work.  Seventy -Five percent of the money donated to the SCWDA will be used to establish a War Dog memorial on or near Patrick AFB, FL.  The other twenty-Five percent will be used to educate the public on the importance of the Military Working dogs.  For example the SCWDA will buy War Dogs books and donate them to the area schools and libraries. 

How can I join the SCWDA?

On 1 August '02 membership opened to the general public.  There is an annual membership fee of $20.00.  You will receive a complimentary membership card the size and thinness of a credit card.  As a member you will be afforded the opportunity to head committees and vote on SCWDA matters.  You will have to read and accept the membership rules and meet all requirements.  See SCWDA Membership page for more information.

What does "Space Coast" in the Space Coast War Dog Association mean?

Space Coast represents the general location of the organization.  The SCWDA is based out of Patrick AFB.  We are located in Satellite Beach on the east coast of Florida.  For those of you that do not know Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and Kennedy Space Center is very close by (space shuttle ring a bell).  This area around us is referred to as the "Space Coast" hence our name the Space Coast War Dog Association.

 Do you have to live in the area of the "Space Coast" to be a member?

 NO!!! All you have to do is meet the requirements outlined on the Membership page.  But you may be asked to organize and conduct fund raisers in your area to support organizational  goals. Also you may be asked to help with various SCWDA business.
