In Memory of MWD Iwan

 

MWD Iwan W162 was born in March ’93. Upon completion of Narcotics and Patrol school, Iwan was assigned to Misawa AB. He arrived at Misawa in September ’94 to begin his service as a Drug Detection Military Working Dog. Iwan conducted over ten Health, Moral, and Welfare Inspections in various facilities on Misawa, providing commanders with a tool to ensure there were no illegal drugs in their facilities. He conducted countless dog demonstrations for such groups as Boy Scouts of America, Junior ROTC, Elementary and High School Classes, Health and Wellness Center as well as demonstrations during American Day Festivals and Air Shows/Open House. Iwan conducted over 3000 hours of search time, and maintained a 98% proficiency rating during all drug training trials. MWD Iwan was last handled by SSgt Michael Dorsett.
