"Where's My Name"
Hi, what you are viewing is a digitally altered print. It measures 13”x17” and is printed on premium glossy photo paper (if you purchase a print it will not have our website in red). The dog you see in this picture was a Scout Dog named "Prince"(5A07) that served in the Vietnam War in 1966 and 1967. He was handled by two people in that period of time, Melvin Cobb and Pete Peters. Pete used used a 35 year old picture he had taken of Prince, scanned it in, and digitally inserted Prince into a recent picture of the Vietnam Memorial in DC. The title of this print is "Where's my name?" as Prince is wondering why his name isn't on the wall, or recognized in any way for his sacrifice to our country. Prince, along with approximately 4,000 other War Dogs loyally served our country in the Vietnam War. These 4-footed soldiers were highly trained as Sentry, Scout, Bomb Sniffing, Booby Trap, Water dogs, etc... And in the Vietnam War alone are estimated to have prevented as many as 10,000 U.S. and allied forces casualties. Sadly, our government took the position that these dogs were "expendable equipment" and only a handful of the 4,000 ever returned home to live out the rest of their lives. At the end of the war, these brave dogs that saved so many lives, and had such steadfast loyalty to their handlers, were either put to sleep, handed over to the Vietnamese or just left to roam the jungle. We, as the Space Coast War Dog Association, are an association committed to honoring the memory of these brave souls who died for our country and gaining them the recognition and honor they deserve -We Will Not Forget- All proceeds from this print will go to the S.C.W.D.A. where our goal is to have a local War Dog Memorial erected and to continuously educate the community. Check out our "About Me" page for additional information. Thank you for looking and feel free to email us with any and all questions regarding War Dogs. The print can be yours for a $10 donation plus $5 shipping. Thank You for looking.
